The NeoIPC Trial, NeoDeco, is a large cluster randomised controlled trial in neonatal intensive care units (NICU) to investigate an Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) intervention in this setting. At the moment, we are looking to define the interventions based on emerging data on effective IPC in NICU.
Sponsored by Penta, the trial will begin with a resistant bacterial colonisation assessment phase. This will help:
- to find out what the levels of colonisation across Europe are
- to determine the optimal strategies for obtaining the required microbiological data.
If you are interested in participating as a NICU in the NeoDeco Colonisation assessment, complete the site feasibility questionnaire using this link.
***Note that sites have to take part in the NeoDeco Colonisation assessment, in order to be considered for the main trial.
Write to us for more information on how to take part in the NeoDeco Colonisation assessment
Good reasons to get involved:
This is an observational phase – no interventions!
Involves 3-4 point prevalence colonisation assessments (cross-sectional for one day)
Samples are completely non-invasive: skin and stool
Many sites will be able to use innovative consent models, e.g. opt-out consent
You will get feedback on the data that will be assessed
You will get to know likeminded units and the NeoIPC team!
